Pete Wylie Friday March 27th Georgian Thetare

Part time rock star – full time legend!

The seminal Scouse maverick who, along with Ian McCulloch and Julian Cope, pioneered the Eighties art-indie scene. His debut gig was at the legendary Eric’s in Liverpool – the night it was raided and closed for ever.

From Wah! Heat through a seemingly endless of variations on the name Pete Wylie has consistently produced classic songs that put to shame a lot of the modern day dross produced by manufactured pop star wannabees with no talent to call their own.

If there was justice in this world Pete Wylie would be a massive star. A man who has written an endless list of classic songs over the years. A man of honour and commitment who has always stood up for and championed the working man.

Those songs! Better Scream, & Minutes…, Remember, The Story Of The Blues, Hope, Come Back, Sinful, the list is endless.

I’d longed to be able to bring Pete Wylie to the North East for a show. I’ve seen many versions of Wah! related bands over the years and was delighted when he agreed to play a solo show in late 2014 and even more so when he played as Pete Wylie & The Mighty Wah! a couple of years later. Hearing all those great songs live again almost brought a tear to the eye.

But it’s not all about the past. In 2017 “Pete Sounds”, a self financed album was unleashed on the world. An instant classic. The opening track “make Your Mind Up” is as good as anything he’s ever done in my opinion.

The Pete Wylie show comes to The Georgian Theatre in Stockton on Friday March 27th. Expect the all the hits and more as well all the usual Wylie stories, banter and ad libs all surrounded by the Disgraceland Wasteland.

Most of all expect GREAT SONGS by a true artist. It’s a shame there’s not more like him in his day and age.

This show is a co promotion with Tees Music Alliance.

Tickets available on line from The Georgian Theatre, SEE Tickets, Ticketsource, Middlesbrough Town Hall and in person from Sound It Out Records and Middlesbrough Town Hall Box Office
