Autumn/Winter Shows

No gigs planned for over the summer. We’re back in September with a show featuring The Cyanide Pills supported by The Filth and The Continental Quilts. This takes place at The Green Room (part of The Georgian Theatre complex) in Stockton on Friday 27th September.

The Cyanide Pills are the face of punk rock in 2019, a gang of ***** from a desolate land, also known as Leeds. Think of The Boys, Buzzcocks, The Briefs and you won’t be far wrong. In fact, think Johnny Thunders!

Nov 2nd at The Westgarth sees a show from the legendary Goodbye Mr MacKenzie. The band originally split in the early nineties amid frustration at not duplicating the success achieved in the UK  across the rest of the world. Now on the 30th anniversary of the classic “Good Deeds And Dirty Rags” the band have reformed to play some low key shows in Scotland.  These were a tremendous success, rapidly selling out good sized venues and now they have been persuaded to carry on and play a select number of shows outside of Scotland. One of which we’re delighted to say is for us is in Middlesbrough. Tickets are already on sale and have been absolutely flying out.

Also in November sees a very welcome return for The Fallen Leaves. It’s punk rock again but this time for gentlemen. The Westgarth in Middlesbrough has become a home from home for the band and they enjoy playing there as much as we enjoy watching them. This one is on Saturday Nov 16th and the band will be celebrating the release of the self financed “Live At The Hope And Anchor ” album and hopefully will have copies for sale at the gig.

The final gig currently confirmed for 2019 (there maybe more!) is a co-promotion with Tees Music Alliance and features Manchester legends A Certain Ratio and takes place at The Georgian Theatre on Saturday December 6th.

Hailed universally as pioneers of what became known as “punk funk” thanks to the success of ‘Shack Up’ on both sides of the Atlantic, their sound is not easily pigeon holed and their influence can never be understated. The band introduced the avant-garde elements of funk, jazz, electronics, tape loops and technology to the pop song, wrapping it in a post punk aesthetic, adding great clothes and the coolest haircuts.

A Certain Ratio are proud to be a partner of Action Against Hunger’s MealTickets campaign, with £1 from ticketing fees on each ticket supporting the charity’s amazing work saving the lives of malnourished children around the world. http://againsthunger.uk/mealtickets
